"Yes, it is Bread we fight for, but we fight for Roses, too" by Katya Ev Anton & Yizhi Wan
Private Institution is thrilled to present Yes, we fight for Bread, but we fight for Roses too, its fifth duo exhibition with Katya Ev Anton and Yizhi Wan. On view from December 5, 2025 to January 11, 2026.
Borrowing its title from a phrase first voiced by suffrage activist Helen Todd in 1910, the exhibition looks at the friction between societal pressures and what individuals hope for within the structures of care, labour, and the body.
Katya Ev Anton’s latest works use human milk as both medium and assertion, shifting intimate experience into a political register. Yizhi Wan turns to discarded furniture and household objects, treating the ready-made as a site for subtle acts of repair. Together, the artists draw on found forms and everyday gestures to test the boundary between the utilitarian and the symbolic, between what is cast off and what insists on meaning.
Opening reception will be held on Thursday, December 4, 5–8 pm. Invitation only.
